The recent injury to Alex Verdugo in the NLDS and the rest of the season is unfortunate news for the Red Sox. He could have easily played, but he chose to sit out the NLDS and NLCS despite his impressive performance. While injuries can’t be avoided, Verdugo’s injury is a sign of a deeper focus than many of his peers. He’s still young, but he’s clearly better than his teammates.
