The Red Sox have made a bold move by signing ace Chris Sale to a multiyear contract. Sale has been a legitimate ace for almost a decade, breaking a streak of seven consecutive seasons in the top six of the Cy Young voting. The deal also gives Sale an average of $29 million per season through age 35. He had the second-best strikeout rate in the majors last year and was sandwiched between Max Scherzer and Gerrit Cole. Sale has not made a full season since 2016, and has been limited to just 30 starts in that span.
