The Kansas City Royals knew that they had to maximize their All-Star backstop, Salvador Perez, by signing Cam Gallagher. In fact, the Royals are expected to call Gallagher up to start his rehab assignment in the next week. In addition to being a DH, he will play first base and right field. That means he’ll split his season between Double-A Northwest Arkansas and Triple-A Omaha.
