Aaron Hicks

The New York Yankees have signed switch-hitting shortstop Aaron Hicks to a seven-year, $70 million contract. Last season, Hicks had his best year yet, posting a 127 OPS+ and hitting 27 home runs while playing 137 games. Before signing the deal, Hicks was scheduled to make $6 million in 2019, and then he was free agent. Hicks’ new contract will keep him at $6 million in 2020 and 2021, and he will earn $10.5 million a year for the next three seasons. That’s a good deal for the Yankees, especially considering he is only entering his fourth Major League season.
