While there are plenty of reasons to be excited about a new pitcher, it’s easy to see why Michael Pineda, a 20-year-old right-handed starter from the Twins organization, is on the 15-day injured list for now. The Tigers have high hopes that Pineda’s absence won’t extend past a month, but it’s certainly a blow for their bullpen. The Tigers’ starting rotation is already thin, with Matt Manning and Casey Mize on the 15-day injured list, and they’re also short on depth. Thankfully, Alex Faedo, who hails from Triple-A Toledo, is filling in and providing some relief.
