The Detroit Tigers selected Florida outfielder Alex Faedo in the first round of the 2017 draft. He didn’t even know he was picked in that round until he was called up from his Double-A affiliate. He went on to pitch for the University of Florida, leading the Gators to a national championship and a shutout win over TCU. The Tigers’ front office had been tracking the young hurler for years.
