As a rookie in the majors, Lucas Luetge’s first start was against the Boston Red Sox on April 3. In his first appearance since he was promoted, he allowed Whit Merrifield to score on a passed ball in the seventh inning. Still, despite the bafflement, Luetge has been a reliable bullpen arm for the Yankees so far this year. He has pitched to a 2.82 ERA, 1.16 WHIP, 61 Ks to nine walks, three holds, and has blown two saves. Until the Yankees call on him for a start in the big leagues, he is expected to be a good option to provide relief.
