The Astros have made the decision to option outfielder Niko Goodrum from the Minors to the Houston Astros. Goodrum was a free agent in May. While it is possible for a player to be optioned if he reaches five years of service time, this is rare. The Astros will have to give up some salary in order to make the move. Hopefully Goodrum can find a new home in the majors, where he can contribute to a contending team.
