The Houston Astros signed Lance McCullers to their starting rotation, and the decision to bring him up to the big leagues has been a smart one. While not a blue chip prospect entering the 2014 season, McCullers failed to crack any major top-100 lists. In retrospect, it is possible that the experts should have paid more attention to his power changeup. Even so, it is important to remember that a team of 28 players is still not a super star, and the presence of new players does not negate the impact of the absence of stars.
