The Arizona Diamondbacks have signed left-handed pitcher Madison Bumgarner to a five-year, $85 million deal. The deal is the second-largest in the club’s history. Bumgarner’s signing will make the Diamondbacks a better team in 2020. But Bumgarner was far from certain of a deal. The team considered trading away left-handed pitcher Rob Ray to sign Bumgarner in the first place, but Bumgarner was too good to pass up.
